Bourses doctorat - Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin

The Berlin Graduate School of Social Sciences (BGSS) is inviting applications for its three year doctoral programme in Social Sciences at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. The programme is conducted in close collaboration with national and international partner institutions.
Places for Doctoral Research

Research and doctoral training at the BGSS aim to build on the classical tradition of European social science for the comparative analysis of problems of social inclusion and democratic performance. Our focus is on the ability of modern societies to cope with problems of inclusion and exclusion, discrimination and diversity, heterogeneity and individualisation as well as on how the frameworks of democracy evolve and how democratic institutions perform under these conditions in the context of Europeanisation.

We offer places for doctoral research and training at the BGSS starting in October 2008. Members of the BGSS have the opportunity to apply for scholarships of 1200 € per month for up to 36 months based on an annual assessment of their progress. In addition we offer tailor-made funding for teaching and research assistantships, research stays abroad, as well as first-year and write-up fellowships.

Please find further information on our curriculum and application process on our website: www.bgss.hu-berlin.de

Application deadline is April 22, 2008

The BGSS is funded by the Excellence Initiative of the Federal Government and the German Länder.
