EURA prize for junior reaserchers

10th Anniversary EURA Conference ‘The Vital City’

As part of the above conference and in co-operation with the Junior Network for International Urban Studies (JUNIUS), EURA is running a competition for junior research scholars working on urban issues.

* The competition is open for students, ph.d. candidates or persons who obtained a ph.d. degree not earlier than in 2006 and who are under 35 years old on 1st March 2007.
* Interested scholars should send their research papers in electronic version to: Julie Triggle at julie.triggle@uwe.ac.uk and Pawel Swianiewicz at pswian@uw.edu.pl before 1 March 2007.
* One person can submit only one paper.
* Papers should be submitted in English.
* Papers should be 5,000 - 9,000 words long and should refer to original empirical research conducted by the applicant.
* Papers may represent urban studies of different disciplines, such as planning, political science, urban sociology, urban geography, economics etc.
* Papers will be assessed by the jury nominated by EURA Board.

Prizes to be awarded include:

* Presentation at one of the sessions at the 10th EURA Anniversity Conference in Glasgow, 12-14 September 2007.
* Publication of paper in EURA journal “Urban Policy and Practice”.
* Publication of summary of the paper (about 1,500-2,500 words) in EURA Newsletter.
* Letter of appreciation sent to the authors of awarded paper and published on EURA web-site and in EURA Newsletter.
